Reto 3D - Film Gifs

A couple of months back I backed a kickstarter for a wacky little camera called the Reto 3D. It’s basically a new version of the Nishika n8000. It works by taking 3 images at the same time via 3 individual lenses. You can combine them into a little wiggly gif in post with either photoshop or Reto’s iPhone app.

The camera’s settings are super limited. Basically everything is f11 at 1/125 of a second. The only variable you can control is the ISO of the film that you’ve chosen. I don’t really think that the point of this thing is to take super high quality photos. So, the lack of control probably isn’t a huge deal.

The only real downside of the whole thing is the scanning process. The camera takes 3 half frame images per photo. That adds up to a lot of individual frames to scan. It takes forever, and it’s annoying. This is probably only annoying to me though. I’m very impatient. I’ll probably get these scanned professionally in the future.

These were all shot on Fuji C200.
